A 43-year-old woman, Esi Affumwaa, has been arrested by the police in Assin Wurakese Camp, Assin Fosu Municipality, for allegedly biting a customer’s testicles during a violent altercation over an unpaid 20 pesewas debt.
The victim, 36-year-old farmer Osman, is reported to have purchased a cigarette for GH₵1.20 from Affumwaa’s drinking spot. He initially paid GH₵1 and promised to settle the remaining 20 pesewas later. When he returned the next day and handed Affumwaa GH₵5 to make another purchase, he assumed his previous debt would be deducted. However, a misunderstanding ensued when Affumwaa insisted that he still owed the amount.
The argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. Osman alleges that Affumwaa struck him on the head with a stick, causing him to fall. He further claimed that Affumwaa and her children attacked him, during which she bit his testicles, leaving him in excruciating pain and bleeding profusely.
Bystanders intervened and rushed Osman to the hospital, where he was treated and later discharged. The Assin Fosu District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jacob Kumedzro, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were ongoing.
