Two students from Twifo Praso Senior High School in the Central Region have been arrested for allegedly organizing a mob to lynch a spiritualist named Abdul Latif. The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

According to reports, the situation escalated after Abdul Latif accused one of the students of stealing a mobile phone that belonged to a junior student. The phone had gone missing, prompting some students to seek Abdul Latif’s spiritual intervention to identify the culprit.

After Abdul Latif identified one of the students as the thief through incantations, the accused student allegedly rallied a group of about 10 peers. They ambushed the spiritualist, subjected him to severe beatings, and subsequently dragged his lifeless body into a nearby bush, covering it with weeds.

Police later recovered Abdul Latif’s body and transported it to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

The incident has caused significant unrest in the Twifo Praso community. Outraged by the killing, some local youths threatened to storm the school in retaliation. However, the swift intervention of the Central North Regional Police Command and reinforcement teams prevented further violence, restoring peace in the area.
