The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that two Ghanaian nationals were injured in a drone incident near Dubai International Airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
According to a press release issued on March 11, the ministry said it had been informed by authorities in the United Arab Emirates that the two Ghanaians sustained injuries following the drone incident earlier in the day.
The Government of Ghana strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure.
The ministry noted that such incidents pose serious risks to public safety and highlight the importance of protecting civilians and vital international transport hubs.
Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has since led a delegation from the country’s embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai to visit the injured nationals in hospital.
Authorities indicated that the victims’ injuries are not critical and they are expected to make a full recovery.
The ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation while continuing to work with relevant authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
It also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad.
Additionally, Ghana is supporting ongoing consultations within the United Nations aimed at passing a resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities.
The ministry further advised Ghanaian nationals living in the Gulf region to remain vigilant and comply with directives issued by Ghanaian diplomatic missions and local authorities.
