Two Arrested for Illegally Wielding Guns at a Funeral in Western North Region

Police in the Western North Region have arrested two men for the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral ceremony held in Attakrom near Bibiani on March 14, 2025.

The suspects, identified as 41-year-old Frank Afoko and 31-year-old Kojo Agyapong, were seen in a viral social media video firing guns during the event. The footage, which sparked public concern, showed individuals wielding a pistol and shotguns in what appeared to be a celebratory display.

Following investigations, authorities confirmed that the weapons used were unlawfully possessed. The two men were arrested on April 2, 2025, and during police interrogation, both admitted to their involvement as seen in the video.

The suspects are currently in police custody as the Western North Regional Police Command intensifies efforts to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
