Member of 4×4 group and rapper Captain Planet has stated that there is nothing wrong with the memorial service held in Ghana for Black American George Floyd.
The memorial service was held by the Ministry in partnership with Ghana Tourism Authority, Office of Diaspora Affairs and the Diaspora African Forum at the W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Center for Pan African Culture in honour of the 46 year old Black American who was killed by a cop in the United States.
Some Ghanaians including people in the entertainment industry were of the view that there was no need for the memorial service giving reasons that many Ghanaians have fallen into similar situations but nothing has been done. Persons who were of this view included A Plus, Bull dog.
Speaking on Class 91.3Fm with Lharley Lartey and Faisal Carter on Saturday June 6, 2020, Captain Planet added his voice to the issue and said there is nothing wrong for the occasion to be held.
“I think because we all believe that the slave trade started from Ghana so mostly we see Black Americans as Ghanaians, that’s how I get it because slave trade started from Ghana. We see black people as Ghanaians so it’s cool, it’s ok, it wasn’t a big budget.”
Airing his views concerning those who dammed the occasion, he stated that everyone is entitled to his or her own views and it will be impossible for everyone to have the same view on an issue.
“That’s their opinion. You don’t expect everyone to arrive at a point and come out with the same results. Some people will disagree and others will agree. So for me I don’t think it is anything bad and it wasn’t anything big. I’m just praying that they will not come out with a big budget. That’s all.” He said.
