President John Dramani Mahama has painted a bleak picture of Ghana’s current state, declaring that the nation is in crisis.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address in his second term on Thursday, February 27, Mahama was candid about the severity of the country’s economic struggles and the hardships facing Ghanaians.
“I am sad to report that the state of our nation is not good,” he stated, emphasizing the pressing economic crisis.
He highlighted the upcoming National Economic Dialogue on March 3rd and 4th, as well as the Finance Minister’s budget presentation on March 11th, as platforms that will provide a comprehensive assessment of the situation and outline possible solutions.
Despite the challenges, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the crisis head-on.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges,” he said. “I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country, though there is much to lament about.”
