The Glitz, Glam and VGMA: Live On Akwaaba Magic DSTV Channel This Weekend

If you like music, then the 22nd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards will be an event you don’t want to miss.

The awards show will be live on the Akwaaba Magic channel on DStv channel, Friday and Saturday, 25th and 26th June each night.

Viewers across the continent can catch the live broadcast of the shows from 8 pm each night. The main ceremony will be preceded by the red-carpet interviews and the Akwaaba Magic/Baajo activation.

Making the announcement the Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere said “we are excited our first live broadcast from location on Akwaaba Magic will be the biggest musical night on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar.” He added, “our mission is to deliver value to our customers by making great local entertainment more accessible leveraging on our technology to deliver the shows that people love into their hands and their living rooms.”

Throwing more light on this special two-day broadcast, Channel Manager of Akwaaba Magic Kennedy Dankyi-Appah said, “Akwaaba Magic will ensure viewers can enjoy the spectacular show planned in real-time on each night with exclusive backstage access, and the Baajo activation”.

The VGMAs will show across Africa on Akwaaba Magic channel 150 on DStv and will be streamed live on the DStv App.

COVID-19: Ghana Detects 34 Cases Of Omicron variant

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) has announced the detection of 34 cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.

In a tweet to announce the new cases, the NMIMR said the imported cases were detected in 120 samples collected between November 21 and 25.

“The Omicron variant was detected in 28% (34 out of 120) of returning traveler samples (collected from 21-25 November) sequenced. These are the first imported cases of the variant into Ghana, and we are closely monitoring its potential spread in the local population. We encourage the general public to continue adhering to the COVID-19 prevention protocols,” the NMIMR stated in a tweet.

The update from the NMIMR came hours after the Ghana Health Service disclosed the country’s first cases of the new variant.

The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, revealed that the virus was detected in persons traveling from Nigeria and South Africa into the country.

Meanwhile, Immunologist at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) at the University of Ghana, Dr. Yaw Bediako has urged the government to stiffen surveillance at the country’s airports to prevent the spread of the new virus.

DKB Attacks Sister Derby For Calling The Church Boring

Ghanaian comedian Derick Kobina Bonney, known in showbiz as DKB, has taken a swipe at Sister Derby. The latter said in a recent interview that she finds the church boring.

According to Sista Derby, going to church during her SHS school days caused her to fail her WASSCE exams.

Meanwhile, DKB has attacked the comments by Sister Derby. He maintains that anyone who finds the church boring is also a boring personality for the church.

Whiles commenting under Sister Derby’s post, DKB fumed that the church is also tired of Sister Derby.

The tweet read;
“Like I said earlier, if you find the church boring, the church also finds you boring. No time to waste time. Unashamed of the Gospel,” DKB wrote.
