In a recent development, the Supreme Court has rejected investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ application for certiorari against Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. The five-member panel, led by Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, upheld the previous ruling by the High Court.

This legal battle dates back six years when a High Court in Accra dismissed a GHC25 million defamation lawsuit brought by Anas Aremeyaw Anas against Kennedy Agyapong. The court not only rejected the suit but also imposed a cost of GHC50,000 on the journalist. Anas had accused the lawmaker of defaming him, which led to legal proceedings initiated in 2018.
