President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to forming a lean government by limiting ministerial appointments to a total of 60, as promised during his election campaign. To achieve this, he announced that some ministries will operate without deputy ministers.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for six newly approved ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, President Mahama emphasized his dedication to efficient governance.
“As the ministers are approved by Parliament, and as they are sworn in, I’ll proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total of the ministers to 60, as I promised the people of Ghana. This will make this government Ghana’s leanest, and I believe the most efficient government ever in history,” he stated.
The newly sworn-in ministers include:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance
- Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General
- John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition
- Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education
- Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways
The ceremony marks the commencement of their roles in addressing key national issues, reinforcing President Mahama’s vision of a streamlined and effective government.
