President Mahama Inaugurates Seven-Member Right to Information Commission

President John Dramani Mahama has  sworn into office a seven-member Right to Information (RTI) Commission to oversee the effective enforcement of the Right to Information Act.

The Commission is chaired by Dr. James Asante, a communication consultant and lecturer, with Christina Edmund serving as Vice Chairperson. Other members include Kwablah Woyome, Aba Edusah, Angela Emefa Kpegah, and Chris Dugan. Shirley Lartey has also been appointed as the Executive Secretary and serves as a member of the Commission.

The newly inaugurated RTI Commission is tasked with ensuring transparency, accountability, and citizens’ access to public information, in accordance with the principles of good governance.

President Mahama emphasized that the Commission’s work is essential to strengthening democratic governance by promoting openness in public institutions and empowering citizens to hold government accountable.
