President-Elect John Dramani Announces 2024 Transition Team

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President-elect of the Republic of Ghana, has officially announced the members of the 2024 Transition Team. The appointments were made in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), and aim to facilitate a smooth transfer of power from the outgoing administration.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The Transition Team includes experienced individuals drawn from finance, governance, and public administration, tasked with overseeing the change in government.

According to the statement, the team will collaborate with representatives from the outgoing administration to ensure a seamless handover of power to the incoming government.

The appointed members of the Transition Team are:

  1. Hon. Julius Debrah – Co-Chairperson
  2. Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia – Member
  3. Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey – Member
  4. Dr. Callistus Mahama – Member/Secretary to the Transition Team
  5. Dr. Valerie Sawyer – Member
  6. Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi – Member
  7. Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson – Member
  8. Hon. Mahama Ayariga – Member
  9. Hon. Goosie Tanoh – Member
  10. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Member

Additionally, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho has been nominated as a member of the Transitional Advisory Council.

The statement emphasized the team’s critical role in ensuring an effective transition, laying the foundation for the incoming administration to deliver on its promises.

The appointments come on the heels of John Dramani Mahama’s decisive victory in the 2024 general elections, where he secured 56.55% of the valid votes cast to defeat Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
