President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his second-to-last State of the Nation address to Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, as mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
This constitutional requirement demands the President to provide an assessment of the nation’s current state at the beginning of each session and prior to Parliament’s dissolution.
The address is expected to highlight the government’s primary policy goals for the year ahead while offering insights into strategies aimed at improving the current economic conditions.
Earlier in February, the then Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, informed Parliament of this upcoming event, stating, “Mr. Speaker, in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution, H.E the President will deliver to the house a message on the State of the Nation on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Honourable Members are encouraged to make themselves available for the upcoming task.”
This forthcoming address will signify President Akufo-Addo’s second-to-last presentation to Parliament.
