Chairman of the Energy Committee of Parliament, Samuel Atta Akyea, has disclosed that President Akufo-Addo has issued a directive to halt the export of electricity to neighboring countries in light of the current intermittent power outages in Ghana.
In an interview, Mr. Atta Akyea emphasized that the President’s directive demonstrates a prioritization of domestic energy needs over potential profits from electricity exports.
He highlighted the President’s commitment to resolving the current instability in the country’s power supply, stating, “The President has a sense of the national need rather than making profits abroad.”
