President Akufo-Addo Inaugurates Koforidua Youth Resource Center: Pledges Support for Sports Development

Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo, officially opened the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre on December 27th, 2023, situated in the Eastern Region. The inauguration highlighted the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ dedication to advancing Ghana’s sporting landscape and nurturing young talent to represent the nation in various sporting competitions.

This center marks the inauguration of the first among 10 multi-purpose stadiums planned for commissioning. Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, unveiled that the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre is the inaugural installment of this ambitious initiative, with nine similar facilities slated for launch across the country.

The event drew notable figures besides President Akufo-Addo and Minister Mustapha Ussif. Among the attendees were Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, Pius Enam Hadzide, CEO of the National Youth Agency, and Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area.

The facility boasts top-notch amenities, including a high-quality athletic track, a basketball court, a football pitch, gymnasium, IT hub, and a restaurant.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif lauded President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to sports infrastructure, stating, “No President in Ghana’s history has made a greater contribution to sports infrastructure than President Nana Akufo-Addo. The impact on sports development at all levels is evident.”

He encouraged Ghanaians to rally behind the upcoming 13th African Games, urging support to ensure a successful event for Ghana and all participating nations.
