President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly criticized the actions of certain members affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were seen carrying machetes near the office of the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
The incident, captured on camera and widely circulated, reportedly occurred during an alleged cleanup exercise on November 23, 2023.
During his address at the Valedictory Church Service for the outgoing Moderator, Rt. Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, at the Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Accra, President Akufo-Addo expressed his dissatisfaction with the development.
He voiced his genuine concern, hoping that the brandishing of machetes and weapons around the office of the former President John Mahama was not indicative of future events leading up to the 2024 elections.
President Akufo-Addo firmly stated that actions of this nature would not succeed under his leadership. He emphasized his commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the country, stating unequivocally, “Under my watch, no individual or group, regardless of their political affiliation, will disrupt our nation or threaten the peace we all cherish. It will not be tolerated.”
