The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with the lynching of a 26-year-old Liberian national at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34, are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to a police situational report, the Sakumono District Police Command received a distress call from an unidentified individual on Friday, February 27, 2026. The caller reported that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of irate persons near the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) premises at Lashibi.
A District Patrol Team was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified as Austin Tengeeh, lying unconscious with visible marks of assault around his neck and head.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the mob allegedly mistook the victim for a thief before launching the fatal attack.
The victim was rushed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since deposited the body at the hospital’s mortuary while the necessary diplomatic protocols are being followed, given the victim’s nationality.
Authorities have reiterated their warning against mob justice and urged the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies rather than taking the law into their own hands.
Investigations are ongoing.
