The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted thirty (30) police officers to their next ranks in recognition of their outstanding performance during key security operations in the Ashanti Region.

The promotions, effected on Monday, January 5, 2025, follow successful police operations that led to the interception of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.
The Ghana Police Service said the promotions were awarded in acknowledgment of the officers’ professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to duty, which significantly enhanced public safety and prevented dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of criminals.

Officers promoted for their role in the Kantanso Asankare operation include Chief Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel, G/Lance Corporal Saeed Frimpong, G/Constable Sremsei Simon, PW/Constable Kissi Dorcas Serwaah, G/Constable Arthur Emmanuel Nkrumah, G/Constable Dennis Danquah, G/Constable Philip Lawer Nyarko, G/Constable Owusu Kenneth, and G/Constable Christian Buaben Kwadzo Addo.
During the operation, police officers conducted a thorough search of a bus at the Kantanso Asankare barrier and uncovered two concealed containers containing 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. A separate bag found under the driver’s seat also contained two bulletproof plates, a black crushed helmet, and a pair of long boots.
In addition, twenty other officers from the Intelligence Units of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their roles in intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, and surrounding areas. These operations led to the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery networks, and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters.
Commending the officers, the IGP and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) praised their courage, alertness, and dedication to duty. Mr. Yohuno encouraged all personnel of the Ghana Police Service to continue demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, assuring them that hard work and excellence will always be recognised and rewarded.
