The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect captured in a widely circulated video assaulting a young man with a machete near a fuel tanker at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
According to a police statement, the suspect, identified as Dawuda Sumaila, a tanker driver’s mate, was apprehended on Tuesday, April 9, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation.
The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, and quickly gained national attention after footage of the violent act surfaced on social media platforms.
Sumaila is currently in police custody and is assisting with investigations.
