PNC Sets March 24 for Presidential Primaries with Reduced Filing Fees

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has announced the date for its presidential primaries, slated for March 24. During these primaries, aspirants will face a filing fee of 100 thousand Ghana cedis, with the party asserting that their figures are notably lower compared to other major political entities.

Janet Asaba, the PNC General Secretary, highlighted that these fees are the most affordable among the major parties and emphasized the importance of aspirants’ ability to raise funds for the party’s operations.

Preceding the presidential primaries, the party will conduct regional and national executive elections commencing on January 15, 2024. The nomination forms for presidential aspirants will cost GH¢2,000, while the fee for the presidential candidature itself stands at GH¢100,000.

Moreover, the statement released by the party outlined varying fees for different executive positions, ranging from GH¢35,000 for the National Chairperson to GH¢5,000 for deputy positions. Notably, female aspirants are expected to pay half of all the stipulated fees.

The PNC’s move aims to ensure both affordability and financial responsibility among its potential leadership candidates, fostering a competitive yet inclusive political landscape within the party.
