Police in Begoro have begun a manhunt for a guest house owner popularly known as “James Bond,” who is alleged to have murdered his girlfriend at the BJ Tech Guest House in Ehiamankyene, Fanteakwa South District.

The victim, known as Koryo, was a popular food vendor at the Ehiamankyene market and is reported to have a child with the suspect, though they did not live together. Family members say the relationship was kept secret and was strongly disapproved of by relatives.

The incident is believed to have happened on Wednesday, November 12, when the victim visited the suspect and failed to return home. Her younger brother, suspecting she was with her boyfriend, went to the guest house and saw her lying in a pool of blood through the window. He immediately alerted their parents.

Police retrieved the body on Thursday evening and deposited it at the Begoro Government Hospital.

Tensions in the community escalated when some irate youth set the suspect’s Apsonic GY9 motorbike on fire and threatened to burn the entire guest house. The Deputy Director of NADMO in the district, John Kwame Narh, confirmed the destruction and said the suspect is currently on the run.

Police are appealing for calm as investigations continue.
