Parliament has requested the presence of Interior Minister Ambrose Dery to deliver a comprehensive report regarding the recent tragic shooting incident in Sege, Greater Accra Region, resulting in the loss of one life.
A clash between Ada residents and the salt mining firm Electrochem Ghana culminated in a violent encounter at Toflokpo, causing the fatality of one individual and leaving several others wounded.
In response to the Member of Parliament’s condemnation of the incident, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joseph Osei Owusu emphasized the necessity for the Interior Minister to address the House during the initial week of December. The minister’s briefing is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the violence, elucidating on who instigated the shooting – whether it was law enforcement, private security, or the company involved.
Osei Owusu further indicated that following this briefing, the Committee of Defence and Interior might initiate further investigations based on the information provided by the Minister.
