‎More than 20 students from Prampram D/A Basic ‘B’ and Methodist Freeman Basic School in the Greater Accra Region were rushed to the hospital after collapsing during school hours on Monday, April 14.

‎Witnesses reported seeing the pupils in visible distress before they collapsed. They were quickly taken to the Prampram Polyclinic, where medical staff are currently attending to them.

‎Initial investigations suggest that the affected students had consumed “asana,” a locally made corn-based drink sold by a vendor in the vicinity. The vendor, who also fell ill, has been admitted for treatment.

‎The Ningo-Prampram District Health Directorate is collaborating with school officials and parents to probe the cause of the incident and ensure the safety and well-being of other students.
