The Students’ Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) says more than 120,000 first-year students in public tertiary institutions have received fee reimbursements under the government’s ‘No Fees Stress’ policy.

According to the Fund’s Director of Corporate Communications, Obeng Agyenim Boateng, the initiative has eased financial pressure on thousands of students since its launch. He explained that delays in payment for some applicants are largely due to inconsistencies in the documents provided.

“In every system involving such large numbers, there will be challenges. In this case, some mismatched information from students has slowed down payments, but we are working to resolve them,” Mr. Boateng noted.

The ‘No Fees Stress’ programme, first promised by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 election campaign, was officially rolled out on July 4, 2025. The policy waives academic user fees for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions within the government’s first 120 days in office.
