The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for questioning after he claimed to have rejected a GH¢4 million bribe allegedly offered to halt the rollout of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.

In a recent media interview, Mr. Kotey alleged that some influential individuals attempted to persuade him to abandon the policy, which is designed to curb vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety.

Following the revelation, the OSP confirmed that it has requested further information from the DVLA boss to verify the bribery claims and identify the persons involved in the alleged attempt.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the OSP has begun investigating a member of the Council of State for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences tied to gold trading.

According to sources, the probe focuses on allegations that the Council member used his position to influence the granting of a gold licence to a company in which he allegedly holds undisclosed business interests.
