A man is receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra after a tree fell on his vehicle in front of the Kotobabi Police Station during a heavy downpour on Tuesday, March 25.
The storm, accompanied by strong winds, caused significant destruction across the city. At the A&C Mall, a solar panel car park shed collapsed, damaging over 50 vehicles.
The Accra College of Education also suffered damage, with parts of a newly built washroom facility affected. Some students lost belongings, and dormitories were flooded.
Eric Kwasi Azong, the SRC President of the college, told Citi News that lecturers’ bungalows also sustained damage, with roofs being blown off.
“We had some of the rain entering into some of the dormitories, which caused a lot of inconvenience to the students. Some roofs on lecturers’ bungalows were also taken off, and carpenters are on-site trying to fix the situation,” he stated.
Despite the destruction, no casualties have been reported apart from the injured driver, who is receiving medical care.
