Nigeria Defeats 10-Man Ghana in International Friendly Match

In an international friendly match, Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory over Ghana, claiming the bragging rights in the highly anticipated encounter. The match, which took place on Friday evening, saw the Super Eagles dominate proceedings against a resilient Black Stars side.

The opening stages of the match were characterized by a scrappy affair, with neither team able to establish a rhythm. However, Nigeria gradually increased their work rate and were rewarded with a penalty in the 34th minute. Cyriel Dessers made no mistake from the spot, calmly slotting the ball past goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Ghana came out with greater purpose in the second half, showing more attacking intent. However, their hopes suffered a blow when defender Jerome Opoku was shown a red card in the 56th minute, reducing Ghana to 10 men.

Despite being a player down, Ghana continued to push forward in search of an equalizer. However, their efforts were in vain as Ademola Lookman doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 84th minute, putting the game seemingly out of reach for the Black Stars.

In the dying moments of the match, Ghana managed to pull one back through Jordan Ayew, who converted a penalty in stoppage time. However, it was too little too late as Nigeria held on for a 2-1 victory.
