A 34-year-old individual employed as a National Security Operative at the Jubilee House faces allegations of involvement in a complex fraud case related to the sale of an excavator.
Willis Amoako Kotei, the accused, is said to have conspired with three others to deceive a businessman into purchasing heavy machinery.
The incident began when Kotei, accompanied by the victim, visited a location in Tema to inspect a Sany excavator advertised for sale at a price of GH¢14 million.
The businessman, unaware of any wrongdoing, made an initial payment of GH¢467,000. However, he later discovered that he had fallen victim to an intricate scam.
Although Kotei has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and fraud, he has been granted bail by the Dansoman Circuit Court.
Prosecutors have expressed opposition to bail, citing Kotei’s previous non-compliance with police inquiries and his subsequent arrest on a bench warrant.
Efforts are currently underway to locate the other individuals allegedly involved in the fraudulent scheme.
