57-year-old Widow Takes Her Life After Being Scammed $1.5 Million by Fake Online Lover

57-year-old Laura Kowal, a widow, has reportedly took her life by drowning after being scammed out of $1.5 million.

Kowal, who hailed from Illinois, fell victim to a scam perpetrated by an individual she met on a dating app, whom she believed to be a Swedish businessman named Frank Borg.

Investigations into the matter revealed that the photo used by the scammer actually belonged to a Doctor from Chile, and the emails were traced back to Ghana.

Despite efforts by authorities, the true identity of the scammer, known to Kowal as Frank, remains unknown.

Kowal’s body was discovered in the Mississippi River. In a heartbreaking suicide note addressed to her daughter, Kowal confessed to living a double life over the past year, driven by her involvement with Frank.

She expressed deep remorse for her actions, stating, “I’ve been living a double life this past year. It has left me broke and broken. Yes, it involves Frank, the man I met through online dating. I tried to stop this, many times, but I knew I would end up dead.”
