Nigerian gospel artist and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has been invited to minister at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. The event will take place on January 20, 2025, at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom in Washington, D.C., just hours before the official inauguration ceremony.
Bassey, known for his impactful worship music and the global Hallelujah Challenge, shared the announcement on his Instagram page, expressing excitement about the opportunity to minister in the United States. “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025,” he wrote, alongside a poster for the event.
The Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-political, faith-based tradition held every four years to offer spiritual support for the incoming administration. Hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner, this year’s edition will feature prominent speakers such as Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick.
Nathaniel Bassey, celebrated for hit songs like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro,” has become one of Nigeria’s most influential gospel ministers, blending jazz, hymns, and worship medleys. His ministry has reached millions, earning him international recognition. In 2024, the Mayor of Albany, New York, declared October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day” in honor of his contributions to gospel music and ministry.
As part of the event’s lineup, Bassey will join other faith leaders to lead prayers and worship for the incoming Trump administration, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
