NACOC intercepts cocaine concealed in gari at Kotoka International Airport

Operatives of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have arrested a senior manager of a manufacturing company for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Ghana through Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, is accused of concealing the suspected cocaine in a consignment of packaged gari, a popular dried cassava product.

He was apprehended at the airport following an intelligence-led operation carried out by NACOC officers.

Sources at KIA indicated that the suspect is believed to be in charge of production at the manufacturing company linked to the shipment.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attempted export and to establish whether other individuals may be connected to the alleged smuggling network.
