MP Francis Asenso-Boakye Denies Allegations of Bribery, Cites Political Motives

Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama, has firmly rejected allegations of bribery leveled against him by Claude Convincer Davit, a businessman. Davit claimed in a widely circulated video that in 2017, he was urged by the MP to pay money for an introduction to President Akufo-Addo.

Asenso-Boakye, through his Media Assistant, issued a statement vehemently denying the accusation, asserting that he has never met or interacted with Davit. The statement emphasized that this is not the first time such an accusation has been made by the same individual, indicating prior occasions where the allegation lacked credibility.

The MP’s camp suggested the recurrence of this allegation might be driven by political opponents seeking to tarnish his image for their gain. They urged law enforcement agencies, such as the Ghana Police or the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), to invite Davit to provide substantiated details if they find merit in the claim.

Furthermore, Asenso-Boakye’s team cautioned Davit against further spreading the allegation, hinting at potential legal action if the accusations persist.

The statement concluded by underscoring the unsubstantiated nature of the allegations, attributing their resurgence to political maneuvering aimed at besmirching the MP’s reputation.
