ECG Attributes Accra Power Outages to Substation Flooding

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has identified the cause of recent power outages in parts of Accra. According to a press release issued on Thursday, May 2, 2024, ECG stated that the outages were a result of flooding at seven primary substations following heavy rains on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The affected substations include Station H in Dzorwulu, Burma Camp L, Station D in Avenor, High Street AH, La Trade AJ, Lakeside Estate, and Gbawe. ECG has assured the public that they are working in collaboration with the Ghana Fire Service to drain the flooded substations and restore power as swiftly as possible.

In the press release, ECG expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the outages and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a stable power supply. They apologized unreservedly for the impact of the outages on daily life.

The power outages in parts of Accra have been a source of frustration for residents and businesses.
