Ghana Armed Forces Launch Investigation Into Killing of a Soldier at Kasoa Over Land Dispute

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of a soldier at Millennium City in Kasoa, Central Region, following an alleged land dispute.

According to the GAF’s Department of Public Relations at Burma Camp Accra, Lance Corporal (UCpl) Omar Abdul Rahman, along with his colleagues UCpl Danso Michael (deceased) and LCpl Ametus Matthew, visited a disputed half plot of land owned by UCpl Rahman.

They discovered people working on the land, and after verifying the situation, they proceeded to the Millennium City Police Station to report the issue.

While at the police station, the alleged owner of the land, accompanied by two others believed to be land guards, arrived and confronted the soldiers.

During the confrontation, the soldiers were fired upon, resulting in the death of UCpl Danso Michael.

The police managed to disarm and arrest the shooter.

The body of the deceased soldier has been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue.

In a press release, Brigadier General E Aggrey-Quashie, the Director General of Public Relations for GAF, expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased soldier.

The GAF condemned the unprovoked attack and reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order in communities.

They urged citizens to seek peaceful and lawful means to resolve land disputes and refrain from engaging in violence.

The GAF stated that further investigations are ongoing, and the public will be informed of the outcome in due course.
