Brazilian footballer Dani Alves has been released from jail after his $1 million bail was paid, following his conviction for rape. Alves, who was sentenced to four years in prison, was temporarily released after the bail payment.
Rumors initially suggested that Neymar’s father was behind the bail payment, but he quickly denied any involvement in an Instagram statement. With no one initially willing to pay the bail, it seemed Alves would remain in jail, but he was seen leaving the prison with his lawyer, Ines Guardiola, after the payment was made.
Reports indicate that it was Alves’ former FC Barcelona teammate, Memphis Depay, who paid the $1 million bail. Alves, who had been in prison since January 2023, is now on provisional release awaiting final judgment on his sentence.
