Man Jailed 7 years for Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl in Wa Municipality

The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured a conviction against Mohammed Abudi for defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Guli community within the Wa Municipality.

According to a press release signed by ASP Micheal Toya of the Public Affairs Directorate, Abudi committed the offence on Friday, April 11, 2025, and was swiftly apprehended two days later on Sunday, April 13, through proactive policing efforts.

The case was heard at the Wa Circuit Court, where Abudi pleaded guilty. On April 23, 2025, the presiding judge, His Lordship Jonathan Avuogo, sentenced him to seven years in prison.

The Regional Police Command has since issued a stern warning to potential offenders, urging them to refrain from engaging in such criminal acts. The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly children.
