The much-anticipated peace talks aimed at resolving the protracted conflict in Bawku have been temporarily postponed, according to sources at the Manhyia Palace.
The mediation process, led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was scheduled to begin on Monday, April 28, but has been delayed due to the complexities surrounding the central chieftaincy dispute.
Although no new date has been confirmed, the Manhyia Palace is expected to officially announce the resumption of the talks in the coming days.
Otumfuo’s involvement has been met with national approval, as many believe his revered status and experience in conflict resolution could be pivotal in restoring peace and stability in the troubled Bawku area.
The talks, initially planned to run from April 28 to May 1, form part of broader national efforts to bring lasting peace to the Upper East Region.
