
President John Dramani Mahama has announced an increase in the daily feeding allowance for students in public special schools, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting learners with disabilities.
Delivering his 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament, President Mahama said the increment forms part of broader interventions aimed at improving access to quality education and essential support services for students with special needs.
According to him, the daily feeding grant has been raised from GH¢8 to GH¢15 per student.
“The government has also increased the daily feeding grant for students in public special schools from GH¢8 per day to GH¢15 per day. This significant increment reflects our resolve to address the unique nutritional and health needs of learners with disabilities,” he stated.
The President further disclosed that the amended GetFund Act has established a dedicated and sustainable funding framework to implement free education for learners with special needs beginning in the 2026 academic year.
