Ghanaian musician, Wendy Shay and Kwadwo Sheldon have clashed on social media over the definition of celebrity.
Recall during the meeting between the players in the Creative Arts Industry and the Ghana Police Service at it’s headquarters last week, COP Kofi Bokaye asked the entertainment stars to give a clear definition of who a celebrity is.
According to him, one can’t just make one appearance in a movie or drop a song and call himself or herself a celebrity.
He further added that most of the things these so-called celebrities do out there is disgusting.
“I want to say that the sense of entitlement of celebrities is becoming overwhelming and I just don’t get it. Some of the things that you do are disgusting, truth be told. If we cannot arrest pickpockets, we cannot arrest armed robbers. No one is above the law. When you fault it and the law has to deal with you, we will, so that it will deter others,” he said.
Following that, Wendy Shay took to Twitter to define who a celebrity is.
“A celebrity is an English word, it means famous person especially in entertainment and sports etc..but it seems Ghanaians have their own definition for word celebrity, Somebody being famous (celebrity) too Dey pain people ooh Dabi smh.” she tweeted.
Ghanaian Youtube content creator, Kwadwo Sheldon reacted to her tweeted and asked her if she (Wendy Shay) is a celebrity.
