Chiefs and residents of Krobo land have given Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, seven days to apologise for alleged tribal remarks or face further action.

The ultimatum, issued during a press conference on April 13, 2026, applies to communities across Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, and Asuogyaman.

Sub-Chief of Adjepo, Nene Adamptey Iddrisu, said failure to retract the comments and apologise within the deadline would lead to a formal petition being submitted to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

He explained that the directive was given by the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Sakite II.

According to him, the Krobo people remain dissatisfied with the MP’s response to the controversy and believe his comments have caused division.

He urged the lawmaker to demonstrate leadership by promoting unity and taking responsibility through an apology.
