The Koforidua High Court has dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, following the December 2024 Parliamentary elections.

The petition, brought by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Selorm Philibert Fummey Amenorphe, claimed that irregularities at certain polling stations affected the credibility of the results and impacted his chances of winning.

However, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, the presiding judge, His Lordship Krofa Addae, ruled in favour of an application by the Director of Legal Affairs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gary Nimako Marfo Esq., to strike out the case. The court found no merit in the claims made by the petitioner and upheld the results declared by the Electoral Commission.

According to the official results, Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the NPP secured 29,640 votes, while the NDC’s Selorm Philibert Fummey received 29,433 votes—a narrow margin of just over 200 votes.

In addition to dismissing the petition, the court awarded a cost of GHC 25,000 against the petitioner.

Reacting to the ruling, Annoh-Dompreh, who currently serves as the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, expressed satisfaction with the outcome. “I see it as a vindication of both my electoral victory and the confidence reposed in me by the electorate of Nsawam-Adoagyiri,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the petitioners have indicated their intention to appeal the court’s decision.
