Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, is set to appear before court on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after being formally charged by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) with publishing false news.

His legal counsel, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, confirmed the development in an interview on Asempa FM. According to him, the charge stems from allegations made by his client that an individual paid money to secure a government-funded scholarship to study abroad.

“I have just left the BNI. They informed me formally that they will arraign him before the court tomorrow by God’s grace. Because of that, they are not granting him bail,” the lawyer stated.

The arrest follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama, instructing the NIB to investigate claims made by Mr. Nkansah concerning alleged improprieties in the award of overseas scholarships. The allegations were made during a discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM and subsequently gained widespread attention after the Twi-language interview circulated across various media platforms.

In a statement dated February 3, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Presidency acknowledged the public interest generated by the claims and called for a thorough investigation.

As part of ongoing investigations, NIB officials reportedly conducted a search at Mr. Nkansah’s residence on Tuesday before inviting him to assist with enquiries. The Bureau has yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
