Being an orphan often means navigating life’s challenges without the sturdy support of a traditional family structure. It’s a journey marked by resilience and the reliance on the kindness of others for sustenance and care. Supporting orphanages becomes crucial, especially during festive seasons, when the warmth of companionship and generosity can make a profound difference in these children’s lives.

In a heartening display of goodwill, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) reached out to bring joy to the children of the Teshie Orphanage. Their donation of assorted items aimed to uplift the spirits of these young souls, ensuring they felt the joy of the Christmas season.

The donated items, including bags of rice, cooking oil, soft drinks, water, toiletries, provisions, and a monetary contribution, were specifically chosen to assist the 28-year-old Orphanage located in the Ledzorkuku Municipality. This gesture aligns with the Centre’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments to make a positive impact on communities.

Major General Richard Addo Gyane, Commandant of KAIPTC, accompanied by Colonel Chris Dagadu and other staff members, emphasized that this act of giving embodied the true essence of Christmas. Recognizing the challenges faced by these children, the Centre sought to express love and support during this festive period.

The Manager of the Teshie Orphanage, Mr. Moses Lamtey, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to KAIPTC for their benevolence, acknowledging the relief it brought to the children. He shed light on the orphanage’s reliance on donations from charitable organizations and individuals, crucial for the well-being of the 27 children aged between two and 21 years old.

Despite facing financial constraints, Mr. Lamtey praised the children’s commendable academic performance, highlighting their determination to excel despite adversities. He also disclosed the orphanage’s ongoing challenges, including difficulties in paying utility bills and the urgent need for a generator.

Appealing to the wider community, Mr. Lamtey urged organizations and individuals to extend a helping hand to sustain the orphanage’s operations and ensure the children’s well-being.
