Ghanaian forward and Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams has assured Black Stars supporters that he will end his goal-scoring drought when Ghana faces Chad in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite his stellar performances in La Liga, where he has been a key figure for Athletic Bilbao, Williams has struggled to replicate his club form on the international stage since making his Ghana debut in 2022. In 17 appearances for the Black Stars, he has scored only once—a late winner against Madagascar in November 2023.
However, in a video shared by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Williams confidently addressed Ghanaians, saying:
“Hello, Ghanaians. How are you doing? I’m home. On Friday, I’ll score a goal. See you.”
The 30-year-old’s statement has ignited excitement among fans, who have been eagerly awaiting a consistent goal-scoring presence in the national team’s attack.
Ghana is currently third in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, tied on points with second-placed Comoros. A victory against Chad would be a major boost to their qualification hopes before their next challenge against group leaders Madagascar on Monday, March 24, in Morocco.
Williams, alongside other key players such as Jordan Ayew and Mohammed Kudus, will be expected to lead the charge as the Black Stars look to revive their World Cup ambitions.
Inaki Williams has also urged Ghanaian supporters to rally behind the team in these critical matches.
“We need you to support us in these crucial games because together we are stronger,” he said.
