I Will Scrap E-Levy, COVID Levy, and Other Taxes Within 100 Days in Office – John Mhama

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to abolish several controversial taxes within the first 100 days of his administration if elected in the upcoming 2024 general elections. These include the e-levy, COVID levy, the 10% levy on bet winnings, and the emissions levy.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s 2024 Manifesto on Saturday, August 24, Mahama emphasized that these measures are intended to alleviate the economic hardships faced by Ghanaians and reduce the high cost of doing business in the country.

In addition to tax cuts, Mahama pledged to eliminate import duties on vehicles and equipment imported for industrial and agricultural purposes, further easing the financial burden on businesses.

“[I’ll] Scrap import duty on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes,” he added.
