I Will Get you Arrested if You Threaten My Life Again – Chairman Wontumi to Kennedy Agyapong

Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, has issued a warning to Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant, threatening to have him arrested if he continues to make threats against his life. Chairman Wontumi cited Agyapong’s previous threats against journalist Ahmed Suale, which allegedly led to Suale’s death, as the reason for his serious response.

During Agyapong’s recent “Showdown Walk” in Kumasi, he accused Chairman Wontumi and the Vice President of causing the collapse of the NPP. Agyapong also challenged Chairman Wontumi, stating that he would give him a “showdown.”

In response, Chairman Wontumi urged Agyapong to focus on his campaign for the upcoming NPP primaries in November instead of attacking him. He emphasized his commitment to the NPP and stated that he would not speak against the party or Agyapong. However, he warned Agyapong against making threatening comments, suggesting that his previous threats against Ahmed Suale resulted in the journalist’s death. Chairman Wontumi stated that he would involve the police if Agyapong continues to threaten him.

Chairman Wontumi further advised Agyapong to apologize to party members, polling station agents, and individuals he had insulted in the past. He also mentioned Agyapong’s derogatory remarks towards chiefs and judges, urging him to change his attitude.

Regarding the removal of Alan Kyerematen’s posters from party offices after the former Trade and Industry Minister resigned from the NPP and declared his intent to run as an independent candidate, Chairman Wontumi justified his decision. He claimed that since Kyerematen was no longer part of the party, it was within his responsibilities to remove the posters. However, he clarified that he did not insult Kyerematen in the process.
