Ghanaian socialite and singer Mona Faiz Montrage, widely known as Hajia4Reall, has received a jail sentence of one year and one day in the United States for her role in a romance scam.

Hajia4Reall was apprehended in the UK on November 11, 2022, following her appearance at the Ghana Music Awards UK. She was extradited to the US in May 2023 to face legal proceedings.

The charges against her stemmed from her alleged participation in multiple romance scams and other fraudulent activities, which collectively amounted to over $2 million.

After pleading guilty to the charges in February 2024, she initially faced a potential five-year sentence.

However, on Friday, June 28, 2024, she was ultimately sentenced to one year and one day in prison after more than a year of legal proceedings.

Inner City Press reported that while the prosecution had sought a 37-month sentence, the judge opted for a more lenient penalty. “I sentence Ms. Montrage to one year and one day in prison, with the extra day allowing for ‘good time,'” the judge stated.
