A polling station agent at the Wassa Akropong-Appiahkhrom polling station in the Western Region has been arrested by the police for alleged double voting during the ongoing general elections.
The individual, identified as Stephen Kwofie, was apprehended after the incident occurred at Polling Station A in the area. The alleged misconduct raised immediate concerns among election officials and voters present at the scene.
The police have confirmed that Kwofie is currently assisting with investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged electoral offence.
At this time, it remains unclear which political party the polling station agent is affiliated with, if any.
The Ghana Police Service, in a statement, assured the public of their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and fair electoral process, stressing that anyone found engaging in electoral malpractices would face the full extent of the law.
