Ghana has successfully evacuated all its citizens who requested assistance to leave Israel, according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The Minister confirmed that the evacuees have safely arrived back in Ghana, describing the operation as a success.

The evacuation exercise also included some staff of Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv, although a limited number of personnel remain to provide essential consular services to Ghanaians still in the country.

Ablakwa expressed appreciation to both Israel and Egypt for their cooperation, indicating that the evacuation likely involved transit through Egypt.

The operation comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, prompting several countries to evacuate their nationals.

John Dramani Mahama’s administration had earlier prioritised the safety of Ghanaians abroad, with assurances that further evacuations would be carried out if necessary.

The government has indicated its readiness to continue such efforts should the security situation in the region worsen.
