Ghana Added to South Africa’s E-Visa List, Allowing Online Visa Applications

The High Commission of the Republic of South Africa has officially announced that Ghanaian nationals have been included in the list of countries eligible for online visa applications. This development means that Ghanaian citizens can now apply for visas to South Africa without the need to visit the High Commission in person.

The decision to add Ghana to the E-Visa list was made by the Government of the Republic of South Africa, with the aim of streamlining the visa application process and promoting ease of travel between the two nations. The High Commission encourages Ghanaian nationals to take advantage of this new opportunity by visiting the Department of Home Affairs’ portal for more information.

To access the necessary details and guidelines for the online visa application, Ghanaian citizens are urged to visit the official website of the Department of Home Affairs at www.dha.gov.za. This platform will provide comprehensive information on the application process, including the required documents such as passport details, a letter of invitation or proof of accommodation, and a bank statement.

However, it is important to note that upon arrival at a point of entry in South Africa, the normal visa requirements will still be verified. These requirements include the aforementioned passport details, letter of invitation or proof of accommodation, and a bank statement. Ghanaian travelers should ensure that they meet these criteria to avoid any complications during their entry into South Africa.

Furthermore, the announcement states that passports that have been held at the High Commission for more than three months can be collected at VFS Global Offices. This measure aims to facilitate the retrieval process for Ghanaian nationals who have submitted their passports for visa applications prior to the E-Visa implementation.

The inclusion of Ghana in South Africa’s E-Visa list marks a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations and promoting tourism and business exchanges between the two countries. It is expected that this streamlined visa process will encourage more Ghanaian travelers to explore the beauty and opportunities that South Africa has to offer.
