Five Easy Ways to Grow Your Beards

A beard is the hair that grows on the chin, upper lip, lower lip, cheeks, and neck of humans and some non-human animals.
In humans, usually only pubescent or adult males are able to grow beards. Some women with hirsutism, a hormonal condition of excessive hairiness, may develop a beard.
1. Adequate Rest

Testosterone is an essential ingredient in growing a thick, masculine beard. One of the best ways to increase your body’s testosterone level is by giving it time to rest. A recent study published in an American medical journal points to a lack of sleep as the cause of a significant drop in testosterone levels in men. Sleeping gives your body a chance to regenerate the hormone, in turn giving your beard the secret manly ingredient. Getting a full eight hours of sleep is a suggestion from which most modern men could benefit.

2.Reduce Stress

Increased stress also reduces your body’s ability to regenerate testosterone. Stress can also restrict the flow of vitamins to your hair follicles. It is a real problem with real physiological effects. If you find that your life is particularly stressful, think about taking up meditation or breathing exercises. Reduce the amount of ‘screen hours’ in your house by turning devices off by a set time each night. Take up jogging or any activity that will let you unpack some thoughts by yourself for a while. Your body will thank you for the drop in stress, rewarding you with a solid set of bristles.

3. Regular Exercise

Every man should exercise, if not for his beard, then for himself. Not only can exercise help bring down your stress levels, but it will also help you shed some excess weight if you’re on the portly side. How does this help you grow a beard? By helping your body regenerate testosterone, of course. Exercise will also increase blood flow and help provide nutrients to your facial hair follicles.

4. Good Diet

They say that the health of your hair offers a window into your health as a human. Facial hair is no different, and maintaining a balanced diet can help to encourage faster growth. Your hair is made of protein, so foods rich in protein will contribute to building a stronger, healthier beard. Low iron levels can result in stunted hair growth or loss, so make sure your diet has plenty of iron-rich foods.

5. Allow Beards to Grow

Depending on the coarseness of your facial hair along with the sensitivity of your skin, those initial four weeks might feel frustratingly itchy. It is at these times that you will almost feel like throwing in the towel. Resist the urge to shave, trim, twirl, or scratch your facial hair. You want to get over the hump from patchy facial hair to a full beard. That means that any grooming is off the table. Once you pass that four-week mark, then you can start to think about shaping it. Don’t be fooled into thinking that shaving will make your hair grow back thicker. Unfortunately, that old wives tale has no basis in fact. The less you think about it in these early stages, the more likely you are to let it grow. Before you know it, the days of the itch will be long behind you.
